Note : This was refreshing. If you like custard, then you'll like this one. Not too strong, just right. Yum.

Ok, Im a private watcher, I dealt with it when there was a boxed pie, (and Nancy explained why),
ReplyDeletebut Im on a diet here and living vicariously through this 31 days, so I see the pie, and what do I find? not one person describing how it tastes. How am I supposed to get my 3rd person thrills if not one person tells me if it was any good? How can I taste the creaminess of the custard. Dont get sloppy now, you still have 10 days to go, and I still have 6 weeks of diet to get through
So sorry, the Olympics and of course the greatest hockey game this year, kinda put me on hold for this one....well here it is...yes it was good! Smooth and creamy. But of course this is a texture thing....Nancy thinks it's slimy....but it slid down reeeeeal easy.
ReplyDeleteI like the taste of custard, and the nutmeg on top was good, but I did indeed find it slimy. I had a hard time getting past the texture so that I could enjoy the flavor. Plus I was a little miffed that it spilled all over the bottom of the oven. While the pie was baking (and took a lot longer then the recipe called for) the stuff on the bottom of the oven burned and filled the whole house with this nasty, burn-your-nose sort of smell. It didn't endear me to the pie before I tasted it, but I did get to try out the steam clean on my new oven! There's an up side to everything.
ReplyDeleteI think Allan was the only one who liked this pie. Sorry honey, but you won't be seeing this one again for a loooong time.
On the up side, it's pretty easy to make. I've observed that the fruit pies are the easiest to make - easier than the whipped/freezer type, but I'm really enjoying the variety of flavors. Tomorrow should be good! The crust is really cool!
I love custard too and the pictures made my mouth water, but hearing Nancy's critique was disappointing. Slimy pie...I think I'll pass!
ReplyDeleteSorry Denise. Perhaps when you're in town I can make it for you and Allan to share and you can decide for yourself if it's any good. I'm just not really into custard. Read on ... :)
